Tượng đài Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh vừa được khánh thành tối 13-6 – Ảnh: QUỐC NAM
Tượng đài được đặt tại quảng trường trung tâm TP Đồng Hới, quay về hướng đông. Tượng đài gồm 7 nhân vật được làm từ chất liệu hợp kim đồng. Bác Hồ là nhân vật trung tâm, chiều cao tượng Bác Hồ 5,4m; các nhân vật còn lại là đại diện các tầng lớp nhân dân tỉnh Quảng Bình gồm thế hệ trẻ, nông nghiệp, ngư nghiệp, lực lượng vũ trang, công nhân – trí thức, đồng bào dân tộc thiểu số tỉnh Quảng Bình.
Sau lưng cụm tượng là biểu trưng cánh buồm, với ý nghĩa thể hiện Quảng Bình đang căng buồm vượt sóng ra khơi, vươn ra biển lớn, thi đua học tập và làm theo lời Bác dạy. Cánh buồm làm bằng chất liệu đá xanh cao 20m, lõi kết cấu bêtông cốt thép.
Tổng bí thư Nguyễn Phú Trọng đánh giá tượng đài Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh là một công trình văn hóa có ý nghĩa chính trị, lịch sử và nhân văn sâu sắc của nhân dân TP, đồng bào Nam Bộ.
